There are no secrets to growing fantastic plants in pots and baskets.
It's as easy as giving them the basics.
Always use compost that has ample feed in it - either fresh compost or some that has been re-vitalised with balanced slow release fertiliser - Osmocote for example. In pots you will need to feed plants weekly after the first month unless you have used slow release feed.
Most summer plants need full sun. Mimulus, Impatiens, and Begonias are more tolerant of shade that the others
A common mistake with summer bedding plants is putting them out in the elements too soon. Wait until the end of May unless you have a greenhouse and experience........we can look after them better than you can until the weather is just right.
When you plant out your summer bedding always water it in - even if you do it in the rain or rain is forecast. A soak settles the plants in and they start growing immediately........this applies to plants in pots too.
